SD14 | infrared

Yesterday I had the first chance to try IR photography with the SD14 after removing the dust/IR-blocking filter.

I bought the SD14 in a bundle together with the SD1 Merrill from an offering on Ebay and mounted an 720 nm filter in front of the 10-20 mm f 3.5 lens (82 mm thread!). That lens doesn't show any hot spot (special thanks to the website of Kolari Vision, which says that this lens works reasonably but not without flares) - and for me a wide zoom lens is perfect for IR photography, because it limits focussing issues.

I did postprocessing in RAWTherapee primarily - I opened the SD14 RAW files directly in RT without doing anything in SPP before (... worked surprisingly well). Finally I 'tweaked' the histogram in PaintShop Pro a bit to get more contrast - that's all.

Place in front of local theatre ... looks like a theatre stage itself

A white house in front of the 'black' sky really looks 'special' - guess, that's what most people like at IR photography ...

Italian styled house - magnolia on the left hand side is having its characteristic blossom

Happy shooting to all - thanks for looking.
