Why go to a MFT when today's APC mirrorless camera body and lens combination are the same size or smaller than the current high performance MFT?

Simple answer; features are more important than camera or sensor size.

Consider that APS-C is largely an afterthought of Canikon. APS-C is meant to be a gateway drug to FF, hence why it is not as fully featured.

On the other hand Panasonic and Olympus are solely dedicated to MFT. With the exception of no v-log update possible on the G9, they are not really holding back features on their flagship models (IBIS, video features, pixel shift, etc etc).

In sum, the g9/em1 mkii are 1700 euro flagships that are competing with similarly priced non-flagships.
