Does it sound like this light meter is broken? (Minolta X-570)

Hello everyone,

I've been using my first film camera, a Minolta X-570, for a while now, and I've recently been wondering if the light meter is not working right.

The thing I noticed is that when I have Portra 160 loaded in (with the ISO setting at 160) and it's a sunny day, the meter tells me the picture will be overexposed unless I set the aperture to f22. Does this seem off?

I'm fairly new to this, but my understanding was that 160 film would allow for pretty good flexibility of settings in bright conditions, and I remember using more open apertures in the past without overexposure indicated on the light meter.

Any suggestions for what's going on? I apologize if this is obvious... just still getting used to the camera and how everything works. Thanks in advance for any help!
