I've had this sort of lens in the past. It was a Zonlai 25mm/F1.8 E-mount for Sony.  For myself, MF is not a problem at all when used in conjunction with focus peaking.  In fact, MF is sometimes preferred.  However currently owning the Panasonic G9, I have Pansonic's own Leica Summilux 15mm/F1.7, which is  AF.  Only problem with using MF on Panasonic cameras though is, I find the peaking intensity which defines areas in/out of focus,  is weak compared to Sony.
