The problem with the Fuji X-A line is that it has no viewfinder so you have to use the rear LCD, like a cell phone.  I'd recommend instead the recently-discontinued Fuji X-E2s which is currently on closeout  sale at at Adorama for $350 (silver version). You can probably get a used XC 16-50mm zoom for a hundred and fifty bucks or so on eBay. That would give you a good starting kit for $500.
