I have a sony a6500 and zero manual lenses. I rely almost completely on AF when I am taking pictures. With the touchscreen and Sony's AF technology I feel like I am totally satisfied. While it can struggle some in low light it does typically get me where I need to go.

However, I see quite a few people in the forums who say the prefer manual focus. What do you like about manual focus? What is the advantage of using manual focus? Sony lenses have awful by-wire manual focus, but I was considering getting a cheap retro manual and adapting just to try it. But I don't really understand the benefits.

I like it because I'm in control rather than the machine.
