I've often remarked that...

...some kit lenses (by whatever brand) can be so good that they often rival the big boys optically - short of them not having a constant F2.8, that is. And such is the case for the 16-50 PZ lens from Samsung. Of course, you have to throw in the caveat, "if you have a good copy" as kit lenses across the brand spectrum are often notorious for having copy-to-copy variations in optical quality.

I have 3 of these 16-50 PZ lenses - all excellent copies. I obviously keep one on my NX500 and the clarity levels I've gotten with this combo are superb. Same with my NX300. I'd say with regards to PZ technology this Samsung 16-50 is one of the best (if not best) design on the market - even today!

I've periodically read threads in which the posters maligned this lens - and I'd be shaking my head in disbelief while reading them. But I guess the old adage, "different strokes for different folks" applies here.

Unfortunately, at one time there were countless new copies (often separated from the kit) on eBay, and it was not unusual to be able to scarf one up for only $125 - $150.  But not anymore - just a few used ones and perhaps one or two new ones on eBay anymore.
