Allan,
What do you mean by the flicker in the EVF?
In what way will the E-P5 be faster?
Thanks.
Some people can see the EVF flickering, others can't. I'm one who does see the flicker.
The flicker has been talked about many times on this forum and in a couple of reviews. It is a function of the OLED panel in the EVF. It is not a function of artificial light as I also saw the flicker when outside.
I was one of the first to notice the flicker when I was testing the camera in a store when it was first introduced. It was a promo by Oly and they had several bodies available. I saw the flicker on all the EM10 II's but not the EM5 II that I tested at the same time.
There are no internal settings that can remove the flicker as others have also noted.
Look it up in this forum.
For me, this was a deal breaker as the flicker can induce migraines.
As for speed: I also have an EM5 II. From turning the power switch ON, the EP5 is alive and taking photos while the EM5 II is still waking up. Various other camera operations are also faster on the EP5 compared to the EM5 II. This is quite noticeable when I am out and about with both bodies.
Again, this has been mentioned here on this forum by others.
Olympus introduced a firmware update to address this but with little effect.

Yes, it has been discussed previously. There are settings to remove the flicker, unless you see a different flicker from what most have noticed. There is also a "jitter" that I noticed, different from the flicker, and also removable completely via menu-diving.
Here is my contribution in one thread from several years ago...

Nothing to worry about.
