I see what you mean, that's pretty ugly!

I just looked at a set of shots of my 8 year old son, on vacation in the summer climbing trees. Lots of harsh light with OOF trees against a bright background and me shooting from ground level. Nothing at all like the CA above. I guess some CA is dealt with in-camera and some by the Nikon View/Capture SW I use (I just looked and Lateral CA seems to be on by default in my View NX-i whereas Axial needs to be turned on)?

Does CA merge/blend out in very OOF backgrounds?
