The new sensor in the SL2 is the same as the 80D and is Canon's best APC sensor to date. It has brought Canon into being competitive with the best sensors available. If you're a Canon person you will like/love the SL2.
You work for Canon marketing?
Checking out the studio comparison scene, the SL2 has about 1/3 to 1/2 stop better raw noise at iso 1600, compared to the 1300D.
I have the SL1 also and the SL2. Other than an additional stop of low noise ISO, it has a few must have features for my style of shooting. The articulating screen is a must. Low angles, high angles and every shooting angle possible. Somewhat faster auto focus is a bonus. The dual pixel technology is the killer advance. And finally for me is the exposure compensation button near your thumb. I am always tweeking my exposure and going through the menu is takes too much time for moving subjects. If you need more features Canon has a slew of other choices, but nothing beats the size/weight and stealth of the SL2. Good luck!
