Re: EOS M10 Selfie Fail

Had the original M, loved it. Being a bit vain I upgraded to the M10 as I do enjoy the benefit of a tilt up screen for selfies. Well actually it's great if you are a couple on holiday and you don't want to ask someone to take a pic.
The Sony a5000 and Samsung NX 3000 had this down pat. Set a 10 second timer, extend the selfie stick/monopod and the camera would take an a great, in focus photo. I'm finding it a little harder on the M10. It seems to lock focus when I press the shutter for the 10 seconds, so when the monopod is extended if the face has moved it is out of focus. It even says in the manual not to change the distance between the subject and the camera after pressing the shutter.
Am I doing something wrong? It's proving really hard and I had hoped with face detection and the flip up screen it would be easier. Maybe I'm missing something. Phones have all this technology built in, but the pics from a 5 megapixel front camera fron a cellphone are average at best.
There is a demand for selfies with DSLRs and mirrorless, otherwise the flip out screens wouldn't be so popular but it is disappointing that even though the newly released 200d has a selfie mode it doesn't have smile shutter and will lock focus on shutter being pressed.
satisfy the selfie demand with the phone app .... and the "smile shutter"
