Re: Is upgrading to 200D worth it?

Hi 'Killer. Welcome to the forum!

The short answer is that the latest 24 MP Dual Pixel sensor will gain you about a stop over the older 18 MP sensor (in the noise department).

Can you/do you ever use a tripod? Does your camera have a "Handheld Night Scene" mode? Or "Multi Shot Noise Reduction?"

To help us, can you post your settings in detail (incl autofocus method. Live View?). Lens(es)?

TIA,

R2

Thanks!

I have a tripod but carrying it around every single time when shooting in low light conditions is not what I would like to do. Especially when going into live events or shooting nature for example just after sunset. The tripod is nice and useful when shooting night sky. However mostly I'm shooting at wide angle with F-number being 5.6 or above (often it is around 8-11).

I don't have a handheld night scene setting in my camera. I have heard of it and seen a few samples with pretty nice results. It really interests me and I would like to get my hands on it. Do you know anything about the handheld night scene setting?

I don't think my camera has a multi shot noise reduction. Speaking of noise do you know how high the ISO can go in SL2 without the noise ruining the picture?

I'm using autofocus most of the time. As a metering mode I'm using center-weighted average and during live view I'm using FlexiZoneAF as AF method.

As a lens I have been using my kit lens with no STM. I have heard that dual pixel autofocus with STM lens is a good combination. I hope that is the case with SL2.

Thanks for the help.
