Hello there! Right now I'm shooting with Canon EOS 1300D. Now I'm considering getting a new body which would probably be 200D. Is the upgrade worth it?

My main concern is low light performance and noise related to it. Shooting with 1300D I'm getting noise at ISO 800. Going up with the ISO the image starts to look horrible. I like to shoot city- and landscapes and overviews from different events. Therefore my F-number is always above F/5.6. This leads to ISO being high.

How the 200D performs in low light? For example shooting with ISO 3200 or 6400 is there much noise compared to 1300D?

Also how fast the 200D focus in low light conditions? My 1300D likes to hunt focus for a long time in low light condition...

Thanks in advance!

Hi 'Killer. Welcome to the forum!

The short answer is that the latest 24 MP Dual Pixel sensor will gain you about a stop over the older 18 MP sensor (in the noise department).

Can you/do you ever use a tripod? Does your camera have a "Handheld Night Scene" mode? Or "Multi Shot Noise Reduction?"

To help us, can you post your settings in detail (incl autofocus method. Live View?). Lens(es)?

TIA,

R2
