First your reply reads more like it is from the company that either makes it or distributes it.

Please believe that I have absolutely no affiliation with Fuji or Mitakon. I actually discovered Mitakon with this thread. And you realize that my recommendation to the OP was to buy the Fuji because it is a more versatile all-rounder, don't you ?

I have read several customer reviews of this lens, people that have actually bought and tested this lens, and although the lens barrel aperture ring is marked 0.95 most feel that at best it is 1/4 stop faster than the Fuji f/1.4 and not one stop faster.

I'm afraid that it is even worse. for instance, in the comments of this video comparing background blur of the Mitakon, the author answers to a question ...

  • Q : How about low-light performance? How many stops difference in shutter speed can give Mitakon at .95 vs Fuji at 1.4? Thanks
  • A : Mitakon is supposed to be one stop brighter, but in the real world they gather pretty much the same amount of light wide open.

So it's not about light gathering.

Given the price here in the US, $499, and the cost of the Fuji f/1.4 35mm, $599, along with the Fuji lens having auto focus I would never buy this lens.

I'm lucky enough not to live in the US, just like most of the people

Best of luck to you if you do buy this lens.

Thank you !
