The word "magic" applied to a lens is hilarious - and entirely meaningless. I have never seen a double blind test where a magic lens can be identified compared to a non- magic lens. hocus pocus -----

My definition of "Magic" on a lens is that despite its technical flaws the pictures still look awesome. Maybe not in pure technical terms such as sharpness etc, but rather as being pleasing to the eye.
The Canon 50mm f/1.2L has the same challenge. In technical terms its a mediocre lens. Not razor-sharp etc... Still I loving it! Taking portraits with it is a bit more difficult (especially close to the subject), but f/1.2 on FF does something f/1.4, even razor-sharp, can't do. Perceiving a certain (flawed) look as magic, is obviously subjective and a matter of taste.

btw.: Spotting a EF 50 f/1.2L over a Sigma ART 50mm f/1.4 wide open, should be easy
Also, doesn't a "blind test" for optics sounds a bit like an oxymoron?
(I know ... I'm just kidding)
