The hood itself is a great design either way - the tapering and squaring off means that it doesn’t obstruct the X-Pro’s optical finder so much, which given that this lens was designed for the X-Pro1 originally is a pretty key consideration.

Rather they taper the hood than the lens (as they did instead on the f2).

No my argument is with the whole design of the hood including the hood cap.

At least on the Leica 35mm Summicron the hood and the cap has attachment spurs on them to hold the cap on. But even with those I've lost the hood cap. It was that same on the Leica 28 f/2.8 Elmarit.

I ordered an aftermarket hood for it from the link provided by another user that will allow me to us the regular lens cap and will be shorter that the Fuji supplied hood.
