About to dive in: Is X-E3 + 35mm f1.4 a good 'single prime' camera choice?

What is Stupid about the hood? Simple, it sticks out to far, it twists off to easily, the bends (Flat parts) stops the user from using a standard lens cap, the cap for the hood falls off with the slightest brush against anything. I've drilled hole in the hood for the little pumpers on the cap to fit into and it still comes off with little effort or when it comes in contact with most anything. Mine came off yesterday when I was in the park taking the comparison shots I posted. I had to back track to find it. It also came off in my jacket pocket and had pocket lint on the front element when I went to put it back in my bag.

I'd like it more if it was round at the front. At least then you could easily put on and take off a standard lens cap like you can do with most all of the other Fuji lenses. Not sure why Fuji decided to use that style hood on that lens. Trying to mimic the Leica Summicron M 35mm ASPH with its square hood front and (Again Stupid) rubber hood cap that falls off with the slightest brush against anything?

Now if it was like the Fuji add-on hood for the 23 f/1.4 and had a hood cap that slid on and locks into the sides of the hood I wouldn't have these complaints. I'd buy one just like I did for the 23 f/1.4. That is if Fuji made one but they don't.

As to a WS lens on a body that isn't. Well it does help the lens. And it Doesn't Hurt anyone either.

I have both the 35 f/1.4 and f/2 lenses and a X-E2 camera. I suggest you get the f/2 model as it is faster focusing, smaller, weather sealed and has a more pleasing hood design (IMHO the hood on the f/1.4 is stupid). Whether the hood on the f/2 35mm lens is as effective as the one on the f/1.4 I don't know. I try not to shoot into the sun.

A weatherproof lens on a non weatherproof body doesn’t really help anyone - and what on earth is “stupid” about the 1.4’s lens hood? It’s a clever design, and well built too, mine never leaves the lens, which in turn rarely leaves the camera. Great lens and all the hyperbole is well earned.
