I just added fuji to my gear very recently. Initially I was looking at the X-E3, but ended up with the X-Pro2. Reason was the great deal I got on the XP2, and the fact that the X-E3 was functionally closer to my existing Canon M2 body.
Based on reviews I started off with the 35 f/2. Sharpness is considered better all over the place...

I think that this may be too general a statement. The 35mm f2 is more consistent across apertures when you factor in corners wide open. But from around f4 on, the 35mm f1.4 is purported to have the overall advantage according to much of what I have read - and I have seen this in samples too. (There are quite a few samples out there if you search around. Gotta love the Internet.) These sites below have somewhat influenced me on this. (Fujivsfuji in particular have a good technical approach but they are not contradicted by the others.)

I am jealous that you got a good deal on the X-Pro2.

Regarding focal lengths, I know how popular a 35mm equivalent is (23mm on the Fuji X). It just does not meet my purposes or move my soul. It is a personal thing. The 53mm equivalent is actually a bit long. For a single prime, between 40mm and 50mm equivalent is always a trade-off between easier 'portrait in scene' and cleaner perspective. I can live with the challenge of 53mm equivalent.

Thanks for the encouragement!
