IBIS has nearly met its lens match
5

Having received my EC-20 today, I gave it a shot with my 90-250mm f2.8 at the long end, hand holding, with what was now a 500mm f5.6 lens. Where I can typically shoot at around 1/250 sec without an extender and get pretty sharp shots, that was not the case with the EC-20 attached.

Trying to hold a nearly 5kg combination in the hand with the IBIS attempting to keep things still is a big ask. It was only when I went to 1/2000 sec +/- that I was able to get sharp hand held shots. But even in reasonably sunny conditions, the ISO has to go up fairly high. Now if I was shooting in the Sahara Desert, maybe things would be different.

But the EC-20 sure does give you a lot more reach. No examples yet, unless you like to look at closeups of tree bark.
