Coldshoe or Arm for GoPro?

I normally shoot Canon DLSR with dual-handled tray and strobes.  However, sometimes I want a smaller rig and to shoot still and video simultaneously, so am housing my Sony MX-100 to go with my GoPro and using ambient or video light.

Looking for opinions on mounting the GoPro immediately above the Sony via cold shoe mount vs. on an arm.  Thinking arm is more adaptable, but don't see any adapters to put GoPro on my ULCS arms.

Thanks for your opinions and help.
