s100 flash stopped firing up, can I fix it or buy perhaps g9x II?

s100's flash stopped firing on my recent vacation trip (second last day, so it wasn't too bad).   I was forced to use Fuji xp80 during sunset, night and sunrise and it wasn't too easy.

The flash mechanism is working perfectly, it pops out / in.  However it doesn't fires flash.  I've tried "factory reset" and used all modes "M" to "auto" without any luck.  Also I tried to change flash settings in the menu.  I did inspect it and it doesn't look like a bulb is burned, I'm not even sure it would show up.   From my understanding the cable ribbon could have been damaged.   Is it worth it to disassemble it to check it out?    I'm just afraid I will totally break it?    Maybe I should try to trade/sell it and use the money toward new camera?

I already own D7200 DSLR, my wife loves s100 and she would love something similar in size.   I was looking at g7x II but I cannot justify spending extra $300 over g9x II.  If I will need speed / quality I will still use my D7200.

If I cannot fix s100, would g9x II be a good replacement?   Will the pictures take as good pictures as s100 did?

Any help would be much appreciated.
