How lock focus with tripods in panos

I want to lock the focus for panos that use multiple shots. I know how to do it handheld as I simply hold the shutter to avoid refocusing or use the back focus button and hold it.

But how can I do it when using I tripod? In this case I don't want to touch the camera except for initial focus and after that I use a remote canon wired to take the different shots of the pano. But with this system it refocuses each time. The standard wired cable from official canon in theory would allow also the same system to take all shots with the same focus in in practise it is unreliable.

I don't want to be forced to focus manually setting the lens in manual focus.

I have a 5d Mark II but I guess 5d Mark III is similar and also other models.

ANSWER:
Canon EOS 5D Mark II Canon EOS 5D Mark III
