Spring in Southern California

With the crazy weather patterns we've experienced so far this year, Spring arrived early for many plants, both California native and non native.

1. Species of Agave. Native to southwest USA, Mexico.

2. California Golden Poppy, Eschscholzia californica

3. Ball Gilia, Gilia capitata. California native.

4. Western Honey Bee, Apis mellifera on Gilia.

5. Arroyo Lupine, Lupius succulentus. California native.

6. Arroyo Lupine

7. Chia Sage, Salvia columbariae. California native.

8. Mexican Bush Sage, Salvia leucantha. Native to Mexico and South America

9. Scarlet Sage,  Salvia coccinea. Found throughout the southwest USA, Mexico, and South America.

10. Tidy Tips, Layia platyglossa. California native.

11. Western Honeybee on Tidy Tips.

It's a wonderful time of year to photograph flowers in Southern California!
