A7iii as backup for A7rii?

First off, my apologies for ruminating with my mouth open in public!

I'm quite happy with my A7rii, but all the praise for the A7iii is giving me a "mild" G.A.S. attack.

I haven't been very tempted by the A7riii because I don't find the image quality advantages that significant to justify the upgrade.

I am tempted however by what is offered by the A7iii particularly at its price point; faster, more accurate AF, battery, ergonomics, video etc.,

I want to do more portrait photography and I've been impressed with the eye focus of the A7iii.

I'm thinking at the very least it would make a great "back-up" camera.

Maybe use the 7r2 in crop mode with my 70-300G and the A7iii with the 16-35?

I have to admit I'm even a bit afraid I might wind up using it more than the A7rii.

I'm sure I'm not the only one here having these thoughts, so let's hear them!
