You seem like a good candidate for the SL2 or T7i. Either one should serve you well. The main difference between them is the auto focus (AF) system each uses. The T7i's AF system is faster and more capable. The SL2's AF is just fine for all but faster moving subjects. The trade off is the SL2 costs from $150-$200 less than the T7i. Also, whatever you buy get it with the kit lens. Canon has improved the 18-55mm kits lens that comes with each of these cameras a huge amount from the one you have if it came with the XSi as a kit lens.
Coming from the XSi to the SL2 or T7i will be a massive upgrade and I think you will be very pleased with either camera along with its kit lens.
