Re: I never use them

Same with me (your percentages are fairly close to mine too).

I might be tempted to use them if *everything* could be set, but when I've tried in the past there's generally been one or two things that can't be changed - I remember trying to setup a mode for tripod usage (base ISO, IBIS / OIS off, 2 second timer, LCD screen not EVF, etc.), but there were things I still had to set manually, so it didn't make things any easier. That was a while ago though, and I can't remember what camera it was, so things may have improved since then. But somehow I doubt it, camera control UI isn't exactly a fast moving field

Actually I find it quite annoying that camera companies have a fixed idea of what goes together, and unnecessarily link settings - why can't I enable bracketing *and* a timer, for instance? But that's another story....

Settings like bracketing and timer adjustments can either have hardware or software implementations. Hardware implementation typically means that you can cannot activate multiple modes simultaneously. Software implementation means that you either need to waste a button for this function, divide into menus, or use custom modes. Usually, I prefer the easiness of a hardware switch. However, for example I have never liked the hardware dial for AF mode in my GH2. Then again, why do not all Panasonic cameras have drive mode lever similar to G1?
