Back in September 2014, I received one of the first NX1 cameras.

In December of that year, I used it with a Topcon 300 mm 2.8 "Big Bertha" lens.

Somehow, the early software allowed me to take a picture while using the focus zoom

feature.

Seems to me this is something special...

I posted the picture here and one of the loud mouths here at the time accused me of

faking the picture. ...The finding was blown off.

I'm bringing the topic back from the dead to find out if anyone would like to make this

available as a hack for everyone.

Interesting. But the two pictures were taken at different distances - look at the DoF. They're different. The larger street sign pic looks like it was taken closer as the DoF is much shallower. That or the apertures were quite different. But the larger sign image is not a crop form the other image which seems to be implied.

They were taken from the same location.  but at different times of day.  The aperture was indeed the only difference.   I've not updated firmware or even used the camera since.  If there is a bug causing this, I wanted to make sure to find and isolate it.

BTW: I bought a lot of 18 preproduction Lytro cameras with every software version made because of the NX1 bug. I'm planning on reverse engineering that system, as well.  There has got to be enough clues to the operation in all those versions.  Totally mad at both companies for abandoning loyal users.
