Why is Micro Four Thirds so optimal a format?

Just noticed this thread over here on the Nikon forum:

https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4260761

Notice the way it quickly descended into flame wars and had to be locked.

I'm just wondering whether this forum can show them how it should be done.

My starter, I think mFT is an optimal format because it offers a convenient carry around system with image quality sufficient for many, though not all, purposes.
