The best lens to explore ƒ1.4 shooting with. Fast AF & super sharp. The lack of purple fringe in high contrast shooting — wide open — is astounding. I hope Canon can spin that feat into other lenses (a revised 50L please?).
The images from this lens are really special. Recommended without hesitation.
This is why I switched to Fuji. I can get fast sharp primes that are sharp and free of CA when wide open for half the price.
You can get 33/0.8 sharp image for half of the price? I would love to see them.
In my country the Canon 35mm F1.4 II retails for $2995
I certainly don't deny it is a nice sharp lens. Just rather pricey.

However getting lenses of equal or better quality for a fraction of the price was just too tempting.
ie, my Fuji 35mm F2 that cost me $664...

That makes the Canon 35mm 4.5 x the price.
Bit of a no brainer really.
So 35/2 on crop is the same as or better than 35/1.4 on FF? You are a funny guy.
For my favourite subject of astro nightscapes, I wanted a collection of sharp primes of at least f/2.8 or faster.
It would cost a small fortune to get adequate quality with a Canon system.
As far as exposure goes, f/2 is f/2 regardless of APS-C/FF.
I'm not concerned with depth of field differences.
If you are comparing different format, you cannot say f/2 is f/2
would you say iPhone camera has f/1.8 so it is better than Fuji 35 f/2?
