We can wish all we want but for all the products released so far as evidence, Canon has the M series confined to the Amateur market especially when it comes to video quality and features.
These actions speaks volumes about where they want the M series positioned.

Whether this strategy is a good business plan or not is irrelevant.

I can easily come with a list of 30 or more items that other cameras have already and would like to see in future Ms but I won't even bother anymore, because it is futile.

The matter of fact is, if you want anything from that Wish-list your best hope is to get a different brand.

Canon has in fact said many times, including a year or so ago, that the M line is essentially a bottom-end EOS line. Yes, it is better than the plastic crap at the very bottom, the T6 or whatever, but it isn't really even for amateurs, it is for casual users. I don't see them changing that for a long time, if ever.

Me, I gave up on them years ago, and bought several thousand dollars worth of another system. But I guess in terms of overall profits, which is where Canon wants to excel and impress, they know they will make more money selling the M line the way it is.
