Re: 35L II > If every lens could be this good

I am well aware that my preference is not shared by many haha. I used to be in the other group, and now I see micro contrast and it ruined lenses that I used to love. I could be crazy and hallucinating what i'm seeing... But i also don't think I am because i've put alot of time and effort into this to try and be as unbiased as humanly possible, and slowly more and more over time I saw the differences that I hear few people speak of.
Anyways, this is all just my opinion. I believe there are a spectrum of lens intentions. I also believe that based on what i've seen in the newer versions of lenses that have come out in the last few years, trade one optical advantage to gain another to a large degree.
I wrote more threads down below.
I as a person tend to be the "contrarian" by my nature. But I really don't want to do that here just for the sake of it. I don't disturbing things for no reason because i've been wrong an humiliated before. I think all people at some point or another have.
But I also think there is a reason why this opinion I share with few is in the minority.
The only comparison I can make is with wine. except with wine, its approximately 3000 years more mature of an industry, and photography, while "old" is only a couple hundred years old, modern photography even less mature. So it would be unreasonable to expect all all or even the majority of photographer today to be so nuanced on such a subtle yet important issue. Despite wine being around for 3000 possibly 10,000 years only a very small portion of those people even know what to look for in terms of subtlety, but to the ones who do, the difference is undeniable.
If you are interested in learning more about my opinion, I wrote more in this thread. If not thats ok too.
You can also research micro contrast examples along with other people opinions of how its fake snake oil too. But you decide for yourself if you want. I already feel bad about the fact that this thread started as one praising an awesome lens, the 35LII. I just wanted to share my opinion on it, and why I preferred personally the older version, but passions run high around this forum and things took off.
