Here's a video which shows sample images. To me, the 35L has the superior micro contrast even wide open in all except for the Museum door photos, but this is due to the picture being over exposed. likely due to the greater transmission factor of the 35L original. I'm not going to attack the new lens really. I just prefer the old one, but i do agree of course there are situations for many people where the new lens would be superior.
