If the 24mp model (2000D?) has the current DPAF sensor

It does not. According to Canon, the T7/4000D has a 24.7 megapixel sensor. The DPAF sensor is 25.8 megapixels. The T6i has a 24.7 megapixel sensor, so that's probably what the T7/4000D has.

It could be the sensor in the M50 with DPAF disabled. It is 0.1mp smaller than the sensor in the SL2/T7i/77D etc.  I would question if Canon would keep a fabrication line running for a low volume use in just one camera model.  They have been moving to a one sensor solution in the APS-C line and using the M50's sensor would be a logical move.  If it is this sensor then the 2000D might be a heck of a value.
