I suspect that the inherent focusing speed of the camera itself is very similar among the latest Canon/Sony/Samsung models, certainly so fast as to make no practical difference in real world situations. The system used by Panasonic is inherently less accurate, so it will take longer.

Right. This can even be observed within the NX family. On my NX1 the 45mm and 16-50s are smoking fast to focus. But the 85mm is painful.
