A thread about the new Tamron FE zoom prompted me to ask.

Frankly, I hate 28mm. I had the old EF lens... good lens, sharp from F/4 down, but I found the 28mm on the wide end frustrating. 24mm is just wide enough for architecture, which is primarily where I'd be using a standard zoom.

Optically I've found one stop to be pretty negligible in terms of DoF/bokeh and F/2.8 is slow IMO. But weight wise dropping a stop can cut the weight of a lens in half (or more).

I wish there were more "slow" third party standard zoom options. If I need speed I have an array of 1.4-1.8 primes.
