Fujifilm XF 18-55 f2.8 - 4 double images

I bought a 18-55 used and it appears reasonably sharp but has strange issue. The slightly out of focus areas have the appearance of a double image a ghost. From any corner the ghost image will be towards the center and it is uniform from any corner. It looks like the kind of thing you would get from a decentered lens except it is not one side or the other as you would expect but uniform. The only thing I could think would do this is maybe element spacing being off but that's a wild guess. Any optical engineers explain this or is this just the way this lens is?? I ran my test at f5.6 and roughly 50mm. I have the XC 16-50 and it's blur is uniform no 1 sided ghost.
