The strong point for the 90mm is AF: 1) It's faster to focus and take the picture overall with AF. That applies especially if the subject moves. That is more true when the lens is wide open. 2) Even if doing MF, I can use mode AF+MF to do so with a X system lens and still benefit from peaking. At least on my XE1, peaking does not work in manual focus mode (front switch on M) after I half press the shutter. Otherwise there is long (for me) shutter lag if using a manual lens lens and peaking. Maybe the XT1 behaves differently though.

I do manual focus up to 300 mm but I enjoy the fast AF of the 90 in good light. In poor light the 90 is not so fast to focus with the XE1 and it will miss often on moving subjects in a poorly lit arena. All of that should be solved with the XT2/XH1 I guess .

I don't know anything about that Nikon lens.
