jpg or raw for event?

back again so soon - never rains but pours....

have been asked to shoot a horse event (not necessarily fast motion), but i expect to have to shoot a lot to get what i want. i cold of course use my nex7, but it's glorious weather (if a bit too hot), and it's going to be a very colourful event.

i've always used raw with my sdq when shooting art works, etc., i did try a few jpg of the grandkids, but they're much to fast for both the sigma and myself. so, given that i'm going to need a lot of shots, and perhaps 'fast' ones too, what would i be losing if i shot jpg with my sigma? i don't see any need for postproduction other than cropping, and maybe a bit of tweaking, but nothing too serious.

in other words, do you think i can get away with jpgs for this sort of situation?

as ever, appreciate your help...
