I purchased this device in 1983, and never used it because I took a new job shortly after and moved as well. Now I have time, and need to decide how to mount it. I also have an ancient Celestron C8, so it could conceivably go in that fork mount. Are there any other suggestions for mounts?

As best I remember, it is 16" FL, f/2, and covers a somewhat larger circle than a FF sensor.

I laid it on some pillows and took a picture of the neighbor's house, so nothing broke over the last 35 years...

My suggestion is this.

1. Measure the OD of the tube and buy a set of Parallax tube rings.

2. Once fitted to the OTA, get a machine shop to fab and fit two, side saddle plates out of 10mm thick Aluminium pressed and screwed to fit the outside curve of the rings.

3. Next, measure the OD from one side of the saddle plate to the other.

4. Once done, suss out Eq. fork mount companies and if you can not find any suitable forks, then you either get a custom fork mount made, or buy a decent EQ mount like an AstroPhysics or an EQ8.
