How can I calculate lens magnification?

I have an AF-P DX Nikorr 18-55 VR objective.

Here is the official description:

https://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/camera-lenses/af-p-dx-nikkor-18-55mm-f%252f3.5-5.6g-vr.html#tab-ProductDetail-ProductTabs-TechSpecs

I've learnt in physics, that

magnification = focal length / subject distance

This lens has a 55 mm focal length, 250 mm minimal subject distance, so the magnification should be 0.22, but according to the description it is 0.38.
