AFS G vs AF-D -AF wow
1

Just got a 24-70 2.8 G Refurb from Nikon.

I had thought that my AF-D lenses were pretty fast focusing, but am a bit pleasantly surprised, though I heard this lens was fast focusing.

Used in a triathlon event (well, three events in one morning) yesterday and it REALLY is much faster than the AF-D.

Even with a fast snatch and shoot, it focused fast and accurately.

Unfortunately, my 80-200 2.8 AF-D now seems a bit sluggish!

I guess, depending on plans this year, if I keep shooting sport, I will end up with one of the 70-200 AFS's. But,  will see about my shooting needs. If it was not for uncertainty on needs, and I was sure I would still be doing sport, I would already be starting to put aside the money gradually.

So, anyone wondering about it, yes, while the AF-D's can work and have for a few years for me, the AFS lenses are a step up in AF acquisition. No doubt.

Regards
