Need a lens suggestion for South African Safari

Hi all,

Me and my Wife are off on a 4 night safari for our honeymoon/1st wedding anniversary in May.

We're staying about an hour away from Port Elizabeth.

My wife is intending on taking her D600, but I think she could possible do with a better lens for the trip, it being once in a lifetime an all that! Plan is, if I sort something sooner rather than later, she can at least get out and about with it to get used to it.

She currently has the following lenses :
AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G
AF Zoom-Nikkor 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5D IF
AF Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6D ED

Not sure if the 70-300 will have enough reach / AF seems quite slow compared to what I'm used to, but it is an old lens.

Other thing we have to take into consideration is our max hand luggage weight is 7kg.
Anyone have any recommendations or pointers? It's going to be a bit different to taking pictures at the zoo or whilst out walking!
