Is a tack sharp photo of someone on a restaurant in low light realistic ?

Hey everyone , this might be a dumb question , I keep trying to take pictures of my children on special occasions like a family dinner at a restaurant , a party , etc , usually in low light situations , and all , I mean all of the pictures come out “somewhat kid of sharp” at best or grainy / blurry at worst . I don’t really know what to do , I try shooting in aperture priority and it’s not good , pictures too blurry , I tried shutter priority and it’s a little bit better but still not sharp enough , then I tried raising the iso and I get grainy pictures , I can’t bring a tripod with me and I am not gonna carry a speed lite around .

What do you guys suggest ? Is it realistic to expect a tack sharp photo on scenes like this ? Can anyone provide me with an example of pictures you have taken ? I really need some inspiration because I am getting tired of blurry or grainy pictures

thanks.
