Re: It's not difficult at all

The only issue I have is if (ever) the GM series is re-introduced as the premium grade tiny product by giving it the three-numeral designation (like the GX850/950) they are gong to consign it to the "entry-level" product dustbin and tie one proverbial arm behind the product's back form the day it is announced.

How could they ever justify a premium price for such a camera by labelling it "entry level"?

It has enough hurdles to jump over because of the perception that "small size" = "sub-standard".

Panasonic marketing must be hugely bemused at the "model numbering police" hard at work

Precise understandable model numbering sequences must be part of the western mindset - it sure makes it easy to choose - one hardly need read the specification sheets

It's the inconsistency. GH3>>GH4>>GH5. Each one was an upgrade. GM series, the same. GX8? Nope. The subsequent model is a downgrade, mistakenly numbered. Except in Japan, where it is correctly numbered. Panny, police thyselves.

I agree that we won't see a real upgrade to the GX8. Panny will stick with the GH/G series for their "serious" cams.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to scrutinize the model naming and numbering of some auto makers.
