80D viewfinder exposure difference

My last thread kind of got out of hand so I'm starting a new one so that everything is clear from the get-go .

Here's the scenario: I use Program priority. I take a shot through the viewfinder. I switch to live view without moving the camera or composition and take another shot .

The picture taken with the viewfinder is exposed differently. Often 2/3rd stops more exposed than the shot taken in live view, which I deem to be correctly exposed.  This is enough to cause undesirable highlight blow outs.

What I want to know is if anyone else experiences this and if there is a solution to getting the autoexposure to be consistent between viewfinder and live view.
