I just thought of another question. Do any of you shoot BIFs with electronic/silent shutter? Or should I be concerned about rolling shutter artifacts? I tend to shoot mechanical because I "like" the positive confirmation of shutter clicks, but I realize that might be a bad reason to use it almost exclusively.

I use the Electronic shutter on the E-M1.2 for most BIFs. I think the G9 has a similar readout speed. You sometimes get rolling shutter effects on a background object like a power pole, but rarely on the target. Exceptions are things like flying bee wings, midge wings or hummingbird wings.

Very interesting. What does it do to the bee wings?

Ah, never mind. I searched rolling shutter bee wings and saw some very strange looking shots with the bee wings smeared and detached!

Assuming the read speed is the same as the E-M1.2, you will not get detached wings, but more like the attached.

Actually, that's pretty cool looking. Thanks!
