How much better is 50mm 1.8 over 22mm 2.0 in terms of taking portraits?

For portraits, I'll vote for the 50mm f/1.8, especially compared to the 22mm.

You'll find out quickly that you need to step back from your subject to get the frame, it might surprise the first time but get you better results, you'll discover that your portraits taken with 22mm have big nose and small hears.

You'll even find out that with the 50mm you don't always need to go up to f/1.8 and take nice portraits down to f/4 when background is further away, making focus on moving subjects easier.
