Using the Olympus LC-37C, the 12-32mm is as ready-to-shoot as you're going to get. Even with a true pancake like the 14mm or 20mm, you've still got to take the lens cap off and in less time than it takes to do that I can have my 12-32mm ready to go. So for my purposes (and, I'd suggest, yours too) it's a pancake.

And if you're keeping a lens hood on all the time to avoid having to take off the lens cap, then the lens is hardly a pancake!

My no-lens-cap pancake solution is: GX1+20/1.7+step ring+small belt pouch.

The 46 to 37mm black step ring acts as a minimalist lens hood. It keeps the inner wall of the pouch away from the front element. As, the camera and lens are sliding tightly enough in the pouch, the pouch becomes the lens cap.

Over 5+ years, I had to change the belt pouch 2 or 3 times because the stitch of the belt loop teared or because the zipper got worned out.
