Is it possible to undo the lens profile adjustments in Lightroom, if the program is applying them without the box checked?

Yes, this might be possible as was suggested by Chris Castleberry: If you wish to disable the external profile by default, you can set a new lens profile default (with it disabled) for each lens/camera combination.

I have never tried that, so I cannot confirm it works.

I don't think it will. This if for external profiles, not built-in.

I believe this as well, that's why I have never bothered to check it (which is lazy of course, I should check the facts...). Well, it's apparently been confirmed by Adobe disabling is not possible by applying another (empty) lens correction.

I also completely agree with you on the point the user should be able to decide on if and how to use integrated correction profiles.

I gave up on trying to convince Adobe to change this even before trying (kudos to you for trying to get them to change it), I just use another RAW processor for images which I want to be able to control the corrections, I'll probably end up with Capture one at the end of this year or the next, I just hope they will not switch to a subscription model or completely abandon prior versions.
