The two Hoya filters I have screw completely into the lens barrel leaving no gap.  It is exactly like adding a filter to an interchangeable camera lens.  I can't imagine dust getting behind the filter.  Also, the filter diameter is slightly less than the lens barrel so there is no gap created when the lens is retracted.  I also did the piece of paper test mentioned above and it remains loose.  They behave just like the lens filters I've used for years, wouldn't be without a polarizer and a clear.

The two filters I have are a coated circular polarizer and a coated clear protector.  The clear protector transmits a bit more light than a UV filter.  I use coated filters to reduce ghosting.  Cost a bit more but I've not seen issues with these types of filters.  Hope this helps.
